Tennessee CME/CE Requirements
(2) hours on controlled substance prescribing practices, to include instruction in the Tennessee Department of Health’s treatment guidelines on opioids, benzodiazepines, barbiturates and carisoprodol, and may include such other topics as medication addiction or risk management tools.
(8) hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder. This is a one-time requirement for all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders), beginning with DEA initial or renewal registrations starting June 27, 2023.

(8) hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder. This is a one-time requirement for all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders), beginning with DEA initial or renewal registrations starting June 27, 2023.

(2) hours on controlled substance prescribing, which must include instruction in the Department’s treatment guidelines (i.e., Tennessee Pain Management Guidelines) on opioids, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and carisoprodol and may include topics such as medicine addiction, risk management tools, and other topics approved by the Committee (applies to all licensees, regardless of whether they possess a DEA registration).
(8) hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder. This is a one-time requirement for all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders), beginning with DEA initial or renewal registrations starting June 27, 2023.
