Nevada CME/CE Requirements
(2) hours on misuse and abuse of controlled substances/prescribing of opioids; or addiction (for physicians registered to dispense controlled substances);
(2) hours in ethics, pain management, and/or addiction care;
(2) hours every 4 years on suicide detection, intervention and prevention;
(2) hours on the screening, brief intervention & referral to treatment (SBIRT) (one time requirement to be completed on or before the 2025 renewal period);
(4) hours on bioterrorism, relating to the medical consequences of an act of terrorism that involves the use of a weapon of mass destruction;
(2) hours on cultural competency and diversity, equity, and inclusion (psychiatrists only);
(2) hours of training in the stigma, discrimination and unrecognized bias toward persons who have acquired or are at high risk of acquiring human immunodeficiency virus (required for providers of health care who provides or supervises the provision of emergency medical care or primary care in a hospital, one time requirement beginning with renewals on/after January 2024).
(8) hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder. This is a one-time requirement for all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders), beginning with DEA initial or renewal registrations starting June 27, 2023.

The Board encourages each licensee who treat or care for persons who are more than 60 years of age to participate in education in geriatrics and gerontology.
