The presentation, "Bridging the Gap: Obesity & Diabetes in African Americans" by Dr. Greg Hall, explores the intersection of obesity and diabetes within the African American community. It highlights the racial and ethnic disparities in obesity rates as well as discusses various contributing factors, including socioeconomic status, dietary habits, and stress-related eating behaviors, particularly among African American women. We also will review differences in self-perception by race and ethnicity. Finally, we’ll address the genetic factors influencing HbA1c levels and diabetes diagnosis in African Americans.
