Biography

Dr. Cecilia C. Low Wang is Professor of Medicine in the CU AMC School of Medicine (SOM). Dr. Low Wang (pronounced "lowwong") is an endocrinologist and diabetologist, and directs the Glucose Management Team at the University of Colorado Hospital. She is the founding Program Director of the one-year Diabetes Fellowship Program, and is involved in consensus algorithm development and educational initiatives with the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology. Her research interests include hospital glycemic management and use of diabetes technology, diabetes and cardiovascular disease, diabetes digital health for underserved populations, and stem cell therapy for diabetic foot ulcer. She is experienced in cardiovascular and limb end point adjudication, medical safety, data safety and monitoring, regulatory submissions, clinical trial design and operations, and currently serves as chair of the FDA Advisory Committee for Endocrinologic and Metabolic Drugs. Her clinical interests include hospital glycemic management, transplant dysmetabolism, complications of diabetes, insulin resistance, and lifestyle management for metabolic disorders. She serves as Associate Director for the CU SOM longitudinal Mentored Scholarly Activity, and is a Senior Fellow of the Academy of Medical Educators as well as the Medical Director/Institutional Sponsor Representative for the IND/IDE Office at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus. She is in leadership roles at the Endocrine Society, co-founded and serves on the Executive Board for the American College of Diabetology, and served on the Diabetes Committee of the Lifestyle Council for the American Heart Association. She has published numerous original manuscripts, reviews and chapters, and is co-editor of 2 books published by the American Diabetes Association. She is focused on advancing the care of individuals affected by diabetes and diabetes-related complications through training, research, and improving care delivery and access.
