Biography

Leila Kia MD is assistant professor of medicine in gastroenterology and hepatology at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. She completed her medical school training at Georgetown University, and both her Internal Medicine Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship at Northwestern University. She has since been on faculty at Northwestern where she specializes in management of esophageal disorders. Aside from her clinical interests, Dr. Kia has a special interest in medical education and training. She is Program Director of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship and is director of the medical school gastroenterology module. She is actively involved in mentoring and teaching students, residents, and fellows. Her research interests include Barrett’s esophagus, GERD, eosinophilic esophagitis, endoscopic training, and disparities in gastroenterology.
