Biography
Dr. Galluzzi is professor and chair of the Department of Geriatrics and director of Comprehensive Care at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pennsylvania. Dr. Galluzzi received her medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg and completed a rotating internship and family medicine residency at Kennedy Memorial Hospitals- University Medical Center in Stratford, NJ, and at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine in Camden, NJ. She completed a clinical fellowship in geriatrics at the University of Pennsylvania - Center for the Study of Aging in Philadelphia and a faculty development fellowship at Temple University School of Medicine also in Philadelphia. Dr Galluzzi holds a certificate of Added Qualification in Geriatrics and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She is certified as a medical director in long-term care through the American Medical Directors Association Certification Program, a diplomate of the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and she has served as Chair of the Council on Palliative Care Issues for the American Osteopathic Association. She is also a distinguished fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) and a fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. She serves on the board of directors of the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging and is a director of the American Board of Osteopathic Family Physicians. Dr. Galluzzi is an active member of the ACOFP, the American Geriatric Society (AGS), and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM), and past president of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Family Physicians Society (POFPS). Dr Galluzzi has authored articles focused on end-of-life care and the patient-centered approach to pain management in journals such as the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association. Dr Galluzzi is the recipient of many awards, including the Frederick J. Solomon Award of Merit from the Pennsylvania Society of ACOFP, the ACOFP Outstanding Female Leader Award, the Barbara Bell Award from the Eastern Regional Geriatrics Society, and a distinguished fellowship award from ACOFP.
