Can't-Miss Infections in Primary Care
Description
Among all the clinic visits for fevers and colds and back pain, there may be a patient with a dangerous infection such as endocarditis, peritonsillar abscess or vertebral osteomyelitis. Learn how to identify, evaluate and triage patients with some of the life-threatening infections that often first present to primary care through this case-based course.
Learning Objectives
- 1. Identify key clinical presentations of dangerous infections that often first present to primary care
- 2. Determine first steps necessary for evaluation and diagnosis of life-threatening infections that often have complicated diagnostic pathways
- 3. Review clinical triage of patients with potentially life-threatening infections, including when to refer to the ED and surgical evaluations
