Refractory chronic cough (RCC) is defined as a chronic cough (≥8 weeks) that does not respond to treatment of potential associated diseases or that cannot be explained by other medical conditions. It is a distinct disease associated with neuronal hypersensitivity. This program emphasizes the essential role of primary care providers in the timely diagnosis and management of RCC, offering practical guidance on evaluating patients to rule out other causes, deciding when and to which specialists referrals should be made, and interpreting feedback from specialists to optimize patient care. Utilizing case studies and polling questions, the program is designed to enhance care strategies to improve outcomes for RCC patients.
