Biography

Dr. Richard Krasuski is Director of the Adult Congenital Heart Center at Duke University Medical Center, the Director of Hemodynamic Research and the Medical Director of the Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension Program. He is also Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at Duke University, a staff member of the Duke Heart Physicians Group and Director of the Duke University Collaborative Cardiovascular Society. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine as Diplomate in Adult Congenital Heart Disease, Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine. Dr. Krasuski received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed a residency in internal medicine at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts and a fellowship in cardiology at Duke University. After training he served in the United States Air Force, where he was Researcher of the Year at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas in 2004 and was the youngest finalist ever for the Gold Headed Cane Award for academic, clinical and research excellence in 2005. In the fall of 2005 he joined the Cleveland Clinic, where he built a multidisciplinary program in adult congenital heart disease and collaborated on a multidisciplinary program in pulmonary hypertension for 10 years. In 2013 he received the Bruce Hubbard Stewart Award “in recognition of the ability to combine sensitivity and compassion with knowledge and skill in the practice of medicine.” In the fall of 2015 he returned to Duke to join the faculty. He currently serves on editorials boards or is a reviewer for >20 leading medical publications and has authored or co-authored >300 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts and book chapters related to his specialty interests. He has also helped to develop extensive materials for patient and physician education and has been an invited professor or lecturer at over 50 major medical centers worldwide.
